規格的に10GBASE-Tが1000BASE-Tの互換性が無いのか？というとIEEE802.3-2008のSection4あたりを見ると規格としてはサポートしてそうな感じですし、Catalyst3560-X/3750-Xの拡張モジュール C3KX-NM-10GT では
hw-module switchコマンド
でモードを切り替えれば1Gbpsの利用ができるようになっていますが、Cat65の高いモジュールを使うのに10Gbpsモジュールをわざわざ1Gbpsで使うことはないでしょうからね。
※1000BASE-Tも積む機器によって10/100/1000Mbpsだったり1000Mbpsオンリーだったりとありましたので実装依存なんでしょうか。

Aironet1040や1140にEoS/EoLアナウンスが出ましたので前に作った Aironet AP毎の対応機能について(2012年12月版) をアップデートしてみました。
※コントローラ型(Lightweigt)ベースでの比較です。
※1 "Software Release Support for Access Points"には記載がないが冒頭部に "Cisco OEAP 600 Series" がある。
※2 7.0.98.0となっていてもそのリリースノートの”Software Release Support for Access Points”には載っていないので 7.0.9.128 の方が無難かも。
※3 Band Selectは電波干渉の多い 2.4GHz 帯を避け、無線専用帯域である5GHz帯を優先的に使う制御を行機能。
Aironet3600シリーズは2013年第1四半期 第2四半期 に 802.11ac に対応したモジュールをリリースする予定となっています。
そうなりますとデータレートが1.3Gbpsまで高速化することが可能なようです。
ただその場合、
・MIMOを構成するアンテナが少なくなる（3x3:3SS）
・消費電力が増えるので802.3afでは給電量が少ないのでEnhanced PoE(シスコ独自)、802.3at、Universal PoE(UPoE)が必要になる
という変更？留意事項？があるようです。

ちょっとびっくりしたのがVSLに1Gbpsを使えるということです。
VSSを使用するには
Catalyst4500-X,SupervisorEngine7-EはIP BASE以上
SupervisorEngine7L-EはEnterprise
のイメージが必要になります。
※Cat4500-XはLAN BASEがありませんが。
またCat4500では
WS-X45XX以前のラインカードはサポートされない
とのことです。
Linecards with WS-X45xx and below are not supported in VSS.
また^2 VSSを使用するには
ROMMONのアップグレード
が必要になります。

Upgrading the System Software
If you are upgrading to IOS XE Version 3.4.0SG and are planning on using VSS, you must upgrade your ROMMON to IOS Version 15.0(1r)SG7. Else, leave the ROMMON at its default level.
For details on the ROMMON upgrade process, refer to the ROMMON Release Notes for the WS-X45-SUP7-E and WS-C4500X Family of Switches. Be aware that you can upgrade a ROMMON image either through a console or telnet.
・Catalyst4500 Sup7-E/Sup7L-E
Upgrading the System Software
If you are upgrading to Cisco IOS XE Version 3.4.0SG and are planning on using VSS, you must upgrade your ROMMON to IOS Version 15.0(1r)SG7. Otherwise, you must upgrade your ROMMON to at least IOS Version 15.0(1r)SG2.
For details on the ROMMON upgrade process, refer to the ROMMON Release Notes for the WS-X45-SUP7-E and WS-C4500X Family of Switches. Be aware that you can upgrade a ROMMON image either through a console or telnet.
If dual supervisors are present, first upgrade your software to Cisco IOS XE 3.2.0SG or higher, then upgrade your ROMMON to IOS Version 15.0(1r)SG7 to avoid an uplinks issue (CSCtj54375).

IOS XE 3.4.0SG—December 5, 2012
This release note describes the features, modifications, and caveats for the Cisco IOS XE 3.4.0SG software on the Catalyst 4500E series switch with Supervisor Engine 7-E and 7L-E.
Cisco IOS XE Software Release 3.4.0SG delivers new software and hardware innovations in campus access and aggregation deployments that span across many technologies including Security, Video, High Availability, Network Virtualization, IP Multicast and Lower TCO as following:
High Availability
•Virtual Switching System (VSS)
–Layer 2 Multichassis EtherChannel (MEC)
–Enhanced Port Aggregation Protocol (ePAgP) split brain detection method
–Cross-chassis Nonstop Forwarding with Stateful Switchover (NSF/SSO)
–Cross-chassis in-service software upgrade (ISSU)
–Support for Power over Ethernet (PoE) line card
–Support for virtual switch link (VSL) on 1 Gigabit and 10 Gigabit links
–All four ports on quad supervisor scenario may be used for uplink
ちょっとびっくりしたのがVSLに1Gbpsを使えるということです。
VSSを使用するには
Catalyst4500-X,SupervisorEngine7-EはIP BASE以上
SupervisorEngine7L-EはEnterprise
のイメージが必要になります。
※Cat4500-XはLAN BASEがありませんが。
またCat4500では
WS-X45XX以前のラインカードはサポートされない
とのことです。
Linecards with WS-X45xx and below are not supported in VSS.
また^2 VSSを使用するには
ROMMONのアップグレード
が必要になります。

Upgrading the System Software
If you are upgrading to IOS XE Version 3.4.0SG and are planning on using VSS, you must upgrade your ROMMON to IOS Version 15.0(1r)SG7. Else, leave the ROMMON at its default level.
For details on the ROMMON upgrade process, refer to the ROMMON Release Notes for the WS-X45-SUP7-E and WS-C4500X Family of Switches. Be aware that you can upgrade a ROMMON image either through a console or telnet.

Upgrading the System Software
If you are upgrading to Cisco IOS XE Version 3.4.0SG and are planning on using VSS, you must upgrade your ROMMON to IOS Version 15.0(1r)SG7. Otherwise, you must upgrade your ROMMON to at least IOS Version 15.0(1r)SG2.
For details on the ROMMON upgrade process, refer to the ROMMON Release Notes for the WS-X45-SUP7-E and WS-C4500X Family of Switches. Be aware that you can upgrade a ROMMON image either through a console or telnet.
If dual supervisors are present, first upgrade your software to Cisco IOS XE 3.2.0SG or higher, then upgrade your ROMMON to IOS Version 15.0(1r)SG7 to avoid an uplinks issue (CSCtj54375).
また^3 Cat4500-Xの文書にはリリースノート自体に記載があるのですがVSSにすることでStandalone型に比べ以下のような制約があるとのことです。

ということが分かり易くまとまっています。
例えば最近出たAironet2600を昔からあるコントローラのWLC4400シリーズで制御しようとすると
・Aironet2600をサポート開始するWLCのOSバージョンは 7.2.110.0
・WLC4400シリーズのOS提供終了は 7.0.x
ということでWLC4400シリーズではAironet2600が制御できないことが分かります。
※こういう場合はコントローラを5500シリーズにすることになると思います。
逆に昔からあるAP（旧AirSpace製品）1100シリーズが多数設置してある環境で5500シリーズコントローラで制御しようとすると
・AP1100シリーズの最終サポートは 4.2.209.0
・5500シリーズコントローラのサポート開始OSバージョンは 6.0.x
ということで5500シリーズコントローラでは旧AirSpace製品は制御できないということになります。
